Note: Johanna attended Luther Academy in Albert Lea and Augustana College in Sioux Falls South Dakota. She taught parocial school in the Red River Valley and Kenyon, Minnesota. They started farming near the West St Olaf Church northeast of Oslo. Then they bought a farm in Sargeant Township in 1919. She taught Sunday School and was the superintendent for many years, also sang in the choir and was active in the ladies aid circle. She continued to live on the farm until 1957, when she and Ted Moved to Hayfield. They had six children and twenty-three grandchildren.
