Notes
a. Note:   Hi Cousin Diane!!! I have some pictures of Willie Hinton & Sarah Emeline as either newlyweds or when they were dating. As I understand, she died during childbirth. My grandmother was about seven at the time. I grew up in Elizabeth City, NC. I remember most of my grandmother's (Alma Creef) relatives. I remember "Aunt Kate" always visiting. Not until I started researching did I realize that was Sarah Emeline's sister, Nancy Caroline. I always remember her as a very warm, and sweet lady. My grandmother, always thought the world of her. IF only I had recorded all those conversations as a kid and see how they trace the family lineage. The Creefs are a prominent name on the Outerbanks. No doubt, they are all related in some way. The boat builder you mentioned was Geo Washington Creef, Willie Creef's Uncle. GW Creef's father, Joesph Creef is as far back as I've found any Creef's. The claim to fame of Geo Washington Ceef is he transported the Wright Brothers and their supplies from Elizabeth City to Kitty Hawk on his converted shad boat, the "Hattie Creef" named for one of his daughters (cousin of Willie Creef). For the longest time, The boat was an attraction for a restaurant near Salvo, NC until the restaurant failed and both burned in the mid 70s. news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1893&dat=19780404&id=_A4qAAAAIBAJ&sjid=odUEAAAAIBAJ&pg=3487,4275873&hl=en Geo Washington Creef is also credited for developing the "shad boat" (which has been decreed the "Official State Historic Boat of North Carolina "). I would definitely love to learn more about the Duvalls. As best I can tell they were a very prominent family.
