Note: Name is engraved on marker commemorating men lost in the wars at Manteo. [Robert] Wayland Duvall [Sr.] Obituary One of Dare County's fine young men, Wayland Duvall, was recently killed in battle in the Pacific. He leaves a wife, Mrs. Evelyn Dowdy Duvall of Kitty Hawk and two small children. He was the son of Mrs. Odell Duvall and the late Eph. H. Duvall of Manteo. He served several years in the Coast Guard. Besides his wife, children and mother, he is survived by three brothers: Maynard, Calvert and Gilbert. The first be held at Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo on Saturday, November 25 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. C.L. Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Hooper Family Cemetery in Rodanthe.
