Note: Census: 1860 HENDRICKS COUNTY, INDIANA - Guilford Township - Post Office Plainfield - Enumerated June 29, 1860 - Page # 122 - Household # 921 John Cornett, Male, White, 39, Farmer, $300, $300, TN Mary, Female, White, 40, IN William, Male, Son, 2/12, IN Margaret Gibson, Female, White, 17, Servent, TN Census: Research Note: This is considered to be ourJohn Curnutt for the following reasons. John Charles Curnutt was born about 1822 in Tennessee. He married Nancy B. Newman 1845 in Jefferson County, TN. He went to Mooresville, Morgan County, Indiana to enlist in the Union Army in 1862. Morgan County was directly North of Hendricks County. Mooresville and Plainfield were and are located closely on the Indiana map. His brother William Curnutt lived at Mooresville per the 1860 census and also enlisted there. I am unsure about the Mary Curnutt being our Nancy B. Newman Curnutt. Nancy B.s birthdate was 1819. Marys was 1820 approximately. Could Mary be a part of Nancy B. s name that we havent discovered before? Either way, the dates are very close. The William, age 2/12, son of this John and Mary fits extremely closely to our William Nelson Curnutt, born May 1860. At least one census record shows his place of birth as Indiana. And Nancy B. Curnutt and William Nelson Curnutt had property that they sold property jointly owned by both in Howard County, IN January 1874. Margaret Gibson, age 7, is living in the Household of Sophia Reese in Jefferson County, Tennessee in the 1850 census. This is the same District where Nancy B. Curnutts family lived.
