  Military: Per Larry Willingham Feb 2012 [email protected] He enlisted in the Confederate Army on September 20, 1863. He was 17 years old and left either a pregnant wife or a wife and baby only a few months old. It is interesting to note that the Battle of Chickamauga, GA (a South victory) was fought on September 18-20, 1863, some 120-150 miles north of Cropwell (Pell City), AL. He served as a private in the 58th Alabama Regiment, which later consolidated with the 32nd Alabama Regiment and was listed as the �32 & 58 Consolidated.� This unit fought in the following major battles: Atlanta, GA - July/August 1864 Franklin, TN - November 30, 1864 Nashville, TN - December 15-16, 1864 Spanish Fort, AL Military: He was surrendered at Citronelle, AL by Lt. General Richard Taylor, C.S.A. to Major General E.R.S. Canby, U.S.A., May 4, 1865, and paroled at Meridian, MS on May 10, 1865.
