Sources: Email & Telephone Conversation with Kelly Jo Clayton; March 2004 According to Kelly Jo Clayton and her brother Meckie Clayton, have in their possession the metal rims and various other wagon parts of the wagon which John M. Clayton traveled from Polk County, Tennessee to Randolph County, Arkansas. They have provided photos to bear this out. Their Grandfather, Monroe Tilford Clayton brought them from the old Clayton homeplace to Oklahoma where the son of John M., Albert Chrissely Clayton, moved after 1920 because of the flooding in Arkansas. They also have a part of the original doorstep of the Clayton household. This is a large rock which has a tree petrified into it and is plain to see in the photos they provided. Meckie Clayton has his Mother's Bible, which I am in hopes of obtaining copies of in the future. Clayton, John M., 9, 86, 113 Coe, J.S., 93 BURIAL: According to Meckie Clayton, Great-great-grandson of John M. Clayton, John Monroe Clayton was buried about two miles from his homeplace in a grove. Along with John M. was also buried John Floyd Dale Clayton, son of Albert Chrissely Clayton. None of these graves are marked with tombstones. The Cemetery has no name and is not marked in any way. Other than family knowledge, the exact location of this cemetery is unknown. Mary Ann Clayton Coe, for whom no marker has been located, may also be buried here. BIRTH: Kelly Jo Clayton stated that John M. Clayton's middle name was Monroe. This name has been carried down through the later generations very often in this family.
