a. Note:   Sources: "LETTER", Written by Henry Waters to his father, William Jackson Waters, February 12, 1918 and mailed from Phil Campbell, Alabama. This letter was in the posession of Nettie Ellen Waters Melson, his sister at her death. It was written 8 months before he died. Envelope: Mr. W. J. Waters Moulton, Ala. Rt. # 5 Phil Campbell, Alabama Feb, 12, 1918 Mr. W. J. Waters Dear Father, I will anc. your letter that I recieved yesterday. Was glad to hear from you all. I am well as common and I am glad that you all are well. Say Papa, why do you want me to come home for I am getting about $70.00 a month and you want me to come home to work at $25.00 a month and board. I don't know what you mean. Say Papa I can't come home for a while yet. I will come as soon as I can. Well, I am having a good time over here. I am going to see Jannie some time. Say Papa I am going to stay with this job all the year. We are going to Birmingham as soon as we get done and go to putting up and other line. Say Papa Mr. Speagil said that he was going to put me to climbing in about two or three weeks and if I born to be a lineman. I will get $4.00 a day and board and my way paid any where I go.Well, guess I had better close for this time. Say, sin me my big top pants that I got from Grady. Write soon.   STORIES: Family Lore From Jean Melson Reed, daughter of Nettie Ellen Waters Melson Henry died in a flu epidemic. According to Parker Montgomery, Bud and George Montgomery helped to get Henry ready for burial. Whether the Waters family were also down with the flu or whether people were afraid to help for fear of becoming ill themselves is speculation. For whatever reason, these Montgomery men were the ones who took care of his burial.
  BURIAL: Henry Waters was buried in Montgomery Cemetery on AL HWY 33 south of Moulton. His parents , William J. and Martha Ann E. Dutton Waters, sister, Nettie Ellen Waters Melson, and nephews, Ronald Melson, and Raiphord Melson are also buried there.
