  BURIAL: "OBITUARY": Pubished in The Decatur Daily, Decatur, Morgan County, Alabama; Published April 2, 1999 Spencer Arlton Waters 72, Businessman Moulton - Funeral for Spencer Arlton Waters, 72, of Moulton will be Saturday at 2 p. m. at Elliot Funeral Home. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Waters died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Moulton. He was born February 20, 1927, in Lawrence County to Grady and Elzie Waters. He was the owner and manager of Waters LP Gas CO. fo 17 years. He was a charter member of the Alabama Archaelogical Society and was instrumental in establishing the Lawrence County Historical Society, serving as its president for several years. He was a local archaeoligist, historian and genealogist, who contributed articles to numerous Alabama and Tennessee Archaelogical Society publications, and he compiled the book Confederate Soldiers of Lawrence County, published in 1992. He was a World War II veteran and was active locally in cataloging cemeteries and erecting tombstones for veterans of the Revolutionary, Spanish-American and Civil Wars. He coached youth baseball and was a past president of the Lawrence County Band Boosters Club. He is survived by his wife, Betty Reed Waters, Moulton; two sons, Johnny Waters of Carrollton, GA, and Rory Waters of Starkville, MS; two daughters, Laura Waters Folse of Aberdeen, Scotland and Amy Waters of Springfield, MO; seven brothers, Wayne Waters, Jack Waters, Verbon Waters, Willard Waters, Oneal Waters, Paul Waters and Dwight Waters, all of Alabama; three sisters, Doris Compton, Faye Nell Darnell and Wanda Lee Hill, all of Alabama; five grandchildren. Nephews will be pallbearers.
