The census shows a Lionel Hinchey, born Apr. 1899 as a grandson of Julia Glenn. Since Mary was the only daughter of this family, it means the child could only be hers. But, family knowledge, documents, etc. show that another son, Taylor Earl Newman was born to Mary Glenn and John Newman April 1899. Mary Glenn Newman could not possibly have 2 sons born the same month and having two different sir names. There is documentation attesting to the proof of Taylor Earl Newman being her child. His death certificate lists Mary Glenn as his mother and John Newman as his father. It also shows his date of birth. But the marriage for John Newman and his second with comes prior to the date of Taylor's birth. The best conclusion I have reached has been either she had a child out of wedlock and used the Newman name, telling Taylor that John was his father; or that John was visiting Mary instead of his children) Census: 1910 JEFFERSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE - Civil District # 4 - Enumerated May 4, 1910 - Supervisor's District # 2 - Enumerator's District # 69 - Sheet # 8 B - Household # 77 Mary G. Newman, Female, 49, Widowed, TN, SC, TN, Dress maker, Home Taylor, Male, 11, TN, TN, TN (Taylor Earl was probably the Lional Hinchey listed in 1900. This is based on the birth years and the fact that Mary Glenn Hinchey could not possibly have given birth to two children in the same month with seperate fathers and different surnames. Taylor Earl Newman was known by many members of the family as the brother of Mary Alice Newman and there are many pictures in existance. There was never any mention of a Lionel Hinchey) Census: RESEARCH NOTE: 1910, Mary Newman lived two households from the John D. (J. D.) Murphy who purchased the property her children inherited from her. MARRIAGE: MARRIAGE LICENSE; Jefferson County, Tennessee L. N.
