My Daddy, Wayne Waters, says he can remember his Mama doctoring on his Grandma's leg. When she died, her legs were stiff, and unable to be straightened, from sitting in a wheel chair for so long. The undertakers were going to have to break her legs in order to place her in a coffin, but Grandmamma, Elzie Shelton Waters, refused to let them do that. Instead, she was buried lying on her side so the lid on the coffin would close.
