Shelton (Elizabeth Shelton), do hereby make application for a pension pursuant to the provisions of Articles 6204 to 6227, inclusive, of the Revised Civil Statutes of 1925 as amended by S. B. No. 27, passed by the Forty-first Legislature at its Fifth Called Session and all other laws of the State relating thereto. I am a widow of Jeremiah M. Shelton, deceased, who departed this life on the 9th day of October, A. D. 1919, in the county of Red River, in the State of Texas. I have not remarried since the death of my said husband; and I do solemnly swear that I was never divorced from my said husband Jeremiah M. Shelton and that I never voluntarily abandoned him during his life but remained his true, faithful and lawful wife up to the date of his death. I was married to him on the 8th day of May, A. D. 1890, in the county of Titus, in the State of Texas. My husband, the said Jeremiah M. Shelton, served as a Confederate soldier in the war between the States of the United States. That my said husband served honorably from the date of his enlistment until the close of the war, (or until he was discharged or paroled in some military organization regularly mustered into the army or navy of the Confederate States until the surrender). He was honorably discharged or paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9th 1865. That I have been a bona fide resident of this State continuously since the 15th day of March A. D. 1865. 1. M. Shelton (Elizabeth Shelton), applicant for a pension as the widow of J. M. Shelton, deceased, is in truth and fact the widow of J. M. Shelton deceased; that they personally know that she has not remarried since the death of her husband, for whose service in the army she claims a pension, and that they have no interest in this claim. Whereas, the above names principal has filed with the Comptroller __ affidavit, stating that ___is the true owner of said Confederate Pension Warrant, drawn by the Comptroller of the State of Texas, on the date shown in the above affidavit, in favor of said payee, and that the same is in fact lost or destroyed; and Whereas, duplicate of said Confederate Pension Warrant, in favor of the original payee, will be issued; Now, therefore, the condition of the above obligation is such that the owner of said warrant will hold the State harmless and return to the Comptroller, upon demand being made therefore, such duplicates or copies, or the amount of money named therein, together with all costs that may accrue against the State, on collecting the same. Farmersville, Texas The records show that Jeremiah Shelton, private, Company F, 22nd Regiment Georgia Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted August 31, 1861, at Camp McDonald. He was wounded in a skirmish, June 27, 1862. This company subsequently became Company C, above named Regiment. He was appointed on the Regimental Band as a musician, October 28, 1864. Field and Staff Muster Roll for January and February, 1865, last on file, show him present. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865. Signature: C. H. The said pensioner Elizabeth Shelton, died on the 13 day of June, 1948, in the town of Irving, Texas, County of Dallas, Texas. The pensioner died in the home of Mrs. Minnie Feagin who was related to the pensioner as daughter. That the warrant, which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the funeral expenses incurred by the said pensioner. Yes I further certify that the warrant for the current month has not been cashed by the said pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief.
