Walnut _____ Newport Hoosier State October 2, 1901 Miss Jane Shelby, a former resident of Eugene Township, died a Danville, IL, at the residence of her niece, Mrs. Guy M. McDowell, at 7:30 o'clock on Tuesday morning, September 24, 1901, aged 70 years. She was a most estimable lady and had many warm friends in this county, where she resided most of her life. Her remains were brought to Cayuga on Thursday following her death and interred in the old family cemetery on the Shelby farm, near the famous old Army ford, on the Big Vermillion River. _____ Vermillion County, IN Wills Book 4, Page 21-24 JANE SHELBY, Danville, Vermilion County, IL 1. To the daughters of my niece CHLOE HEAD McDOWELL - that is to say RACHEL HEAD McDOWELL and JANE SHELBY McDOWELL - and to their heirs - all my real estate situated in Eugene, Vermillion County, IN. It is my wish that my niece CHLOE HEAD McDOWELL have control, direction and management of said real estate until RACHEL HEAD McDOWELL and JANE SHELBY McDOWELL reach the age of 25. 2. I devise the cemetery lot in said real estate shall go to my 3 nieces - ROSE HEAD WAINSCOTT, JANE HEAD FITHIAN, and CHLOE HEAD McDOWELL. The lot to be not less than one acre. 3.
