St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church-- better known as Siegwalds-- was located six miles east of Corydon in Franklin Township. It was in existence in 1836 or 1837. During the 1830's there were a number of German people who settled in this neighborhood and worshiped at Siegwalds Church which stood in the west end of the cemetery and it is still being kept clean. The old church was log. About 1850 there arose a dissatisfaction among the church members and many of the Siegwald members left the church. Six or seven families that left helped organize St Peters Lutheran Church.
