From a document contained in the McMinnville file:
"Our Great Grandfather, Reverend Charles M. Forrest, his wife Annie Kell were married on Sept. 24, 1835 at the home of Thomas Kell by the Reverend William Thompson in Warren County, TN. He served as a Captain in the 5th Tennessee Regt., C.S.A. They moved to Texas about the year 1874. The first record we have is the purchase of land about two miles south of the present town of Pendleton, Texas and near a mile east of the Cedar Creek. At the time of the purchase, there was no town of Pendleton. Moving to Texas with Charles M. and Annie Kell Forrest were their children except one daughter Mary who married Joseph Groves and remained in Tennessee. Their daughter Lydia who married John Epperson died before they had moved to Texas."
