a. Note:   Dale is a construction worker in the Tulsa area. He and Peggy live on part of the original Burford farm and raise cattle.
  Elmer Dale Burford was born Dec. 15 1936, in Locust Grove, to Elmer and Anita (Coday) Burford. He died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, in Tulsa, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 23 days.
  He graduated from Locust Grove High School in 1955. On Feb. 21, 1958, in New Albany, Ind., he married Peggy Lawson. They soon settled on the Burford Farm, southeast of Locust Grove, where they raised their family and remained most of their lives. He worked as a carpenter and cattleman. He was a hard worker and enjoyed baling hay and working his cattle.
  In his younger years, he enjoyed water skiing and being a part of the Round-Up Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove, where he had been an active church deacon and also taught Sunday School. He enjoyed time spent with his friends at the coffee shop and traveled some with his wife. He proudly attended and watched many events in which his grandchildren were involved.
  He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Peggy of the home; two children, Pam LaFerney and husband, Kenny, Altus, and Clayton Burford and wife, Sandy, Locust Grove; one brother, Donald Burford, Claremore; three grandchildren, Audrey Burford, Bailey Burford and Wesley Burford; numerous other relatives and many friends.
  He was preceded in death by his parents
  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at the Locust Grove Funeral Home. Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 10, 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Locust Grove. The Rev. Rick Harms, Rev. Larry Downum and Rev. Rob Pierce will officiate. Internment will follow at the Rose Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
