Notes
a. Note:   r father as a journeyman wright in Alyth and approximate age. There is a lack of marriage or other children recorded suggesting she was illegitimate or Agnes died shortly after. The other possible William, also a wright, was born in 1789 in Glamis (file WILL1759).
In 1820 William was a wright in Skene Street, Old Machar, Aberdeen. In 1841 William was a wright and house carpenter living with his family at Woodside Fens, St. Vigeans; Jessie was not living with the family. In 1851 he was living at Guthrie Port, Inverbrothock, Arbroath, in St. Vigeans Parish. In 1861 William was a cabinetmaker and joiner at 2 Rosebank, Arbroath with his wife and daughter (stepdaughter) Isabella Greig, a flax spinner in a factory born 1843/4 in Rescobie, Angus. In 1871 he was formerly a joiner residing at 28 Lillies Wynd, Arbroath with his wife Helen (landress) and daughter-in-law Helen Greig (flaxmill spinner).
At the time of his death William was a pauper. The informant on his death certificate was his second wife, Helen. [The death record lists his father as Thomas Doig, shoemaker, in error.]
Note:   The link to Agnes Fyffe is based on the christening record of daughter Helen Doig listing he
