a. Note:   . On 1 Apr 1865 Thomas was heir to his father's property of 23 poles and 24 yards of ground with the houses on the south side of the village of New Rattray, recorded 26 May 1865 at Perth. In 1868 he was a builder and joiner in New Rattray. On 19 Aug 1868 he sasined a two story dwelling in New Rattray, recorded 26 Aug 1868 in Perth; this was put up as bond for �100 on 28 Apr 1868, recorded 2 Sept 1868 in Perth. In 1881, 1891, and 1901 he was a master joiner living in Rattray with his wife Elizabeth. He owned a piece of ground known locally as Doigsland. He was much interested in public affairs, particularly in the Police Commission and Town Council. He became the first Provost of Rattray and was an Elder in the Rattray Parish Church.
Note:   In 1851 Thomas was listed as a blacksmith living with his new wife on Todsburn Lane, Dundee
