a. Note:   51 he was a warehouseman for porcelain ware residing at 2 Vault Street, Dundee with his wife Isabell and children David and Ann. Andrew and Isabella emigrated to Australia in 1852 with 3 children.
  Note: The family travelled on the "Bourneuf " which departed Liverpool on 26 May 1852 with 754 passengers. By the time it reached Geelong 3 months later 88 passengers had died of measles, diarrhea, scarlatina and marasmus, and most of those who died were amongst the Scottish children under seven years old. The deaths were blamed mainly on overcrowding on the ship and were the subject of an investigation by the Victorian Health Officer. It is probable that daughters Ann and Jane died on this voyage as they do not appear later in Australian records.
