Notes
a. Note:   Family legend says that Thomas went hunting for food and never returned. It was believed that he had been killed by Indians. After several months, Nancy Thompson Cash and her baby, Warren, went to live with Nancy's sister (believed to be twins and to have the name of Elizabeth). When Nancy arrived at the home of her brother-in-law and sister (Francis and Elizabeth Fidler), she was ill, starving and destitute. She soon died, leaving young Warren to live with his Aunt Elizabeth. He was raised as Warren Fidler. The Fiddlers had a daughter, Alsie, who later married David Humphrey.
Elizabeth Fidler died when Warren was about 9 years old. Francis remarried and the step-mother was mean to Warren and Alsie. It was noted in "History of Virginia" that Warren beat his uncle's wife with a potato sack for being abusive to Alsie. A marriage for Francis Fidler and Sarah Stringer is recorded in Louise County, Nov 23, 1779.
