Note: Lived in Centralia, Oklahoma until he was six years old. At the age of six, he moved to a farm near Greenfield, MO. In 1913 he moved to Lindsay, California. Newton attended school in Strathmore and was in Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout. In his last year of high school, he was on the football team which played Bakersfield for Valley Champions. In those days, they played the valley big teams, even Fresno. They lost to Bakersfield, but beat everyone else. He was in the trucking business for several years but later went to work for Strathmore Fats and Oils, becoming Superintendent. Newton died by suicide in his home in 1957.
