a. Note:   John William Pearl and Margaret Elizabeth wanted to get married, but her parents strongly objected. They eloped on horseback, staying overnight in southern Kentucky with relatives, then went on to Nashville, TN where they were married. They lived close to her family until the estate of her father was settled. The land she received as her share was traded her brother, Sanford, for a fine team of horses and a nice spring wagon. They used used the wagon to move their belongings to their home in Rock Creek, where they spent their remaining years.
