Notes
a. Note:   members of this family removed early to Berkeley Co., VA and vicinity; some later to KY and to Pike Co., OH and Pike Co., IL. Major William Chenoweth was at the Falls (Louisville) in 1779. It was he who married the widow Hinton. Their son, Jacob Chenoweth, married a sister of Hon Samuel Haycraft, State senator of Kentucky.
A Chenoweth family was massacred by Indians in the early days in Kentucky. Draper collected much information on this incident to be used in his Border Series. Much additional information on Chenoweths might be had by consultation with his MSS.
