Note: [Brderbund Family Archive #317, Ed. 1, Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties, 1850, Date of Import: Jan 26, 1999, Internal Ref. #1.317.1.32775.167] Individual: Trosper, William N. County/State: Iroquois Co., IL Location: 21st District Page #: 163 Year: 1850 For the first name in this entry, the person who indexed the record was uncertain about the transcription due to difficulties in deciphering the original records. There is no proof that William N. is the son of John Trosper and Sarah Montgomery. However, time frame fits. 1820 Indiana, Clark Co., Silver Twp. census, page 17 (have copy) TROSPER, Nicholas 1 male 10-16 1804-1810 (William b 1807 KY? grandson, nephew ?) 1 male 45 + bef. 1775 (Nicholas b. 1747 ? 1 female 26-45 1775-1794 3 known : Nicholas, 1, 1747 Nicholas Livingston, Sr. b.1781, Nicholas Livingston Jr. b 1843 1820 Indiana, Clark Co., Silver Twp. census, page 4 (same film as above) TROSPER, John 1 male under 10 1810-1820 (WM N. b abt 1820 ?) 1 male 16-26 1794-1804 (John b.1797 in OH ? NC ?) 1 female 16-26 1794-1804 (Sarah Montgomery b. 1801 OH ?) John & Sarah were married in 1819. Could this be the John who m Julian Allen in 1818 in Bourbon KY? This would mean that Julian died soon after the marriage, poss. in childbirth?? (really reaching here) John, b u/k, wife was Julian Allen, md. 1818 in Bourbon, KY, would have been at least 21, b. 1799 or before. 1830 Indiana, Lawrence Co. census page 074 TROSPER, William 1 male under 6 1824-1830 1 male 20-30 1800-1810 Wm. b 1806-7 KY 1 female 20-30 1800-1810 1830 Indiana, Lawrence Co., census page 074 TROSPER, John 1 male 5-10 1820-1825 William N. ? 1 male 20-30 1800-1810 John 2 females under 5 1825-1830 2 females 5-10 1820-1825 Poss. Marinda w 25 b OH Delphina d 6 b IL Rhoda d 4 b IL Frances d 1 IL Thompson ? 19 IN clerk William N. and family were also enumerated in June, 1850 in Vermilion Co., IL. Obviously they moved sometime before October. Thompson Trosper was enumerated with this family at this time. He is either William's younger brother or possibly his nephew, being the son of John enumerated on the 1830 census of Clark Co., IN. The relationship is impossible to make out on the census. 1850 Illinois, Vermilion Co. census TROSPER, Wm. It is possible that this is William N. Trosper; date of birth is right; Jane would be his third wife. By the 1900 Iowa census he had been deceased for at least three years, as his wife had remarried about 1897. She reported on that census that she was the mother of four children; all living. Charles was living with her at that time. Not certain if this is William N. Trosper, however the William Trosper b 1808 in KY purchased land in Indiana and lived there all his life.
