Note: Ellis Ray Goss (Ray) (9) son of Doyle (8) and Margaret (Davis) Goss was born on April 1, 1941 in Hood River, Oregon. Ray enlisted in the Air Force in 1959 and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas where he met and married Eloise Charlton. Ray worked at Brooks Air Force Base in the field of aerospace medine studing the effects of space on humans including research on primates (chimps). At the end of his second tour he was required to serve overseas and was sent to Tripoli as a operating room technician. During this time 1968 the Arab Israeli war was on and his family was returned by emergency evacuation to the States. Ray completed his tour in this difficult situation. Ray remained in Libia and the day he was to come home he was found dead. No one is sure what actually happened. The cause of death was recorded as asphyxiation or heart-arrhythmia. Arab law would not allow examination the body until three days after death. His active duty pay, and many of his personal belongings never reached his wife. He died April 17, 1968 and was given a military funeral in San Antonio, Texas. Eloise has remarried and she and her children remain in Texas.
