 John sold his farm in northeast Oklahoma, near Wyandotte, in1957. He and his wife, Cecile, bought a house in Seneca,Missouri, where they lived until they both passed away. Johndeveloped cataracts when he was in his mid 50's and wascompletely blind by the time he was 60. He had surgery on thembut at that time the surgery was not as successful as today.
 Before becoming a farmer, John worked in the feed, seed andproduce store in Okeene. Before marraige, John worked on therailroad.
