a. Note:   His family in Europe was strict Catholic. He rebelled and arrived in America in 1855. When married in 1861, lived in Wilmington, Vt. He and his bride took a packet boat up the Delaware River to farmland in South Jersey.
 Also a master potter, very profitable at that time, these products being used for storage, pickling, etc. Granddaughter Dorothy McGinley writes, "My mother said some of her happiest days were when her father would take her with him in the large farm wagon to visit the surrounding towns to sell his pottery and also trade for staples the family needed."
 Buried in Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton, N.J.
