Accidently shot himself on a Fast Day, record found on the same page.
Further records gathered by Edward McGinley state: "1840 Peter Stillman accidentally shot himself. He was on a gunning expedition with Wm. H? Bradley at Dogstown Common when his gun accidentally discharged, taking effect in his side. He said, "I am shot," and died instantly. He was an expert gunner, one fo the best, and handled firearms perhaps more than any other person in town."
Town records also indicate he was a fireman.
