Note: Muster Roll of Company I, 22d Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry Army Northern Virginia C.S.A., Dawson County, Georgia Martin, P.P.- 2d Sergeant, Sept. 3, 1861. Captured at Deep Bottom, VA Aug. 16, 1864. Paroled at Look Out , Md and transferred to Aiken's Landing, VA for exchange Mar. 14, 1865. Received at Boulware & Cox's Wharves, James River, VA. Mar 16, 1865. At home on furlough close of war. ( Born in Henderson County, N.C. in 1835 ) Abstract taken from Roster of Confederate Soldiers, Page 994 Phidilla's nickname was Dillard. He married Nora Clayton at quite a late age. Up until his marriage he is listed in the household with Jesse L. Martin ( his son and family)Before his death he sold his portion of the Martin Apple Orchards to J.W. Clayton. Brother in law to Nora Clayton. J.W. was married to Nora's sister. GGrandfather P.P. Martin lived with his son Jesse L. and family until they moved to TN to work in the copper mines. He is buried in the Cartacay Cemetery. We are in the process of attempting to get him a military headstone through D.A.R. of America.
