Note: The whole family died in a Nazi camp during the Holocaust. They wanted to escape to Russia with the rest of the family, but they
were afraid that their small children would freeze to death, since it was
winter. They returned to Poland, planning to escape to Russia during the
Spring.
They were taken to a camp, where a surviving neighbor saw how they were
killed: Melech was holding a child and Perla the others. The Nazi
wanted to send Perla and the children to the crematories, and send Melech to work. When they refused, the guard took the child from Melech's
hands, and hit his head against a pole. Melech tried killing the guard,
and they were all killed.
