He joined the U.S. Army in Jan 1956. He completed basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. In June 1956 he was shipped to Miesau and Kaiserslautern, Germany with the 50th Ordinance Company. He was discharged Dec 23, 1958. He began working as a timekeeper at J.I. Case Company in Rockford, Illinois. He worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and was promoted to foreman and was with them until May 1970. He married Sally Burnette Feb 24, 1961. They bought a house in Loves Park,Illinois and had two sons. Wade Koepp born Jan 4, 1965 and Darrell Koepp born Aug 24, 1967. They lived in Loves Park until July 1970 when Reid was transferred to Apple Valley, Minnesota. Reid was always very talented with woodworking and carpentry. He suffered a massive heart attack in 1986 at age 50. In August 1988 Reid and Sally took Dad to live with them in Apple Valley, Minnesota. The house on 312 South Madison Street, Evansville, Rock County, Wisconsin was sold because of Dad's failing health. Reid lost Sally to cancer on March 7, 1989 at age 48. They had been married 28 years. He has his hobbies in woodworking, stained glass and restoring an old Model A Ford 1929 Roadster. He is a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rosemount and very involved with church work. His son, Darrell, lives in Princeton, Minnesota and works in Telecommunications for Target Stores as a Network Support Specialist maintaining the Dayton Hudson Corporate Network. His son Wade is presently working at Hoffer Glass Company in Minneapolis. Reid plans on retiring April 1, 2001 and March 30, 2001 was his last day of work. Reid had been terminally ill since 2000 and his retirement was not the 'golden' years he had looked forward to. The year 2001 and the first part of 2002 he was able to enjoy pretty well. After that his health steadily declined from Prostate Cancer with the related illness and problems from Chemo treatments, medications and two strokes that impaired his memory. Reid passed away 17 Nov 2003 in a Hospice home in Elko, Minnesota. He and I went on a trip to Arizona and Texas in February 2002 and were gone a month. He had many, many friends in Arizona and he enjoyed that trip very much. It was heart warming to be with him and watch him enjoy the trip he looked forward to so much. The trip to Texas and M.D. Cancer Treatment Center for a battery of tests and a second opinion was pretty emotional in not receiving the medical prognosis we had hoped for. I was very thankful for having this whole month with him.
Note: Reid was born on a farm in Juda, Green County, Wisconsin the son of Alfred Wm D
