Note: Isaac also came to East Tennessee. He fought in the Revolutionary War. He was a doctor by profession. He was also an extensive land holder in what is now called the Happy Valley section of Carter County TN. Narrative from Pinson homepage: A. Isaac2 TAYLOR was born on 7 March 1757 at Augusta County, Virginia. In 1780 Isaac was a Private in Capt. Robert Sevier's Company under Col. John Sevier. He fought against Cherokee Indians, was under Capt. William Trimble and Col. Charles Robertson in relief of Ft. Anderson, was under Capt. Landon Carter in Battle of Boyd Creek and in Chilhowie Campaign. He was promoted to Ensign in the Militia 1781, and in Coor's Campaign was promoted to Lieutenant. (Annals of Tennessee by Ramsey, p 265) During the fall and winter of 1779-80 William Preston was informed that the British Tories were "about to rise". On 12 July 1780 he sent a letter to "Capt. Isaac Taylor" instructing him to "find a good horse, engage 30 men and proceed up New River to find and disarm Tories." He was instructed to hold them at "the lead mine" until court met. Their arms and munitions were to be kept there also. (Draper Manuscript).7,8 He married Jane CUNNINGHAM, daughter of Christopher CUNNINGHAM and Mary MORGAN, in 1780 at Washington County, Tennessee.9 He married Elizabeth BROWN, daughter of Jacob BROWN, on 29 October 1819 at (Carter County?), Tennessee.9 He appeared on the census of 1830 at Carter County, Tennessee, age 70-79, with 1 male age 5-9 and 1 female 50-59. He was on the 1840 census of Carter Co TN age 80-89, with 1 male 15-19, 1 female 10-14, and 1 female 60-69. He died on 14 December 1842 at Carter County, Tennessee, at age 85.9A.
