a. Note:   It is possible that James was the son of William Start, who was born to James and Diana Start on 28 September 1738. William's birth is recorded in the register of St. Luke's Parish (Anglican), Queen Anne's County, MD.
  The date of William's birth makes it feasible for him to have been the father of James (husband of Elizabeth Barron), and the location in Queen Anne's County fits what is known of the early history of our Start line.
  In addition, James and his wife Elizabeth Barron named their oldest son William [Andrew], which fits with the Anglican tradition of naming the first son for the husband's father. This pattern can be extended back a generation (i.e., William Start, the son of James and Diana, may have named his first son James, for his own father).
  William Start's birth record is shown in F. Edward Wright, Maryland Eastern Shore Vital Records, Book 2: 1726-1750, p. 33.
