a. Note:   Jimmy lived about 18 months and came down with Spini Minigithus and of course in those days there was no treatment -
 At this time the Harper Family was very destitute. We had a garden that put some food on the table the rest was supplied by Welfare. My Daddy and I would hitch up the Mule to the wagon and ride up to the "Y" (the nearest Bus Stop) Unhitch the mule and stake him out for Grazing, catch the bus, go to Birmingham to the Welfare Station, Get the Commodities consisting of Non-perishable Groceries, carry them to the Bus stop, load them on the Bus for the trip back to where we had left Our Mule (Approx 18 miles) Load them on the wagon for the trip home (approx 4 miles) My job as a 8 year old wasnt complete until all the groceries were brought in the house, the Mule was unhitched and fed & watered. This was a all-day job that we done once a month
