  The following is a summary from Catherine A. Samlaska ( Roy's Wife)
  Roy Thomas Samlaska was born to Oscar & Catherine Samlaska in Lewisville, Minnesota on July 10, 1927. They moved to Madelia, Minnesota when he was ten. He helped his father in the gravel business & canning company in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. After his high school graduation, Roy also attended Mankato State College in Mankato, Minnesota for six months or more. Roy married Catherine LeGare in 1949. They lived in New Ulm, Minnesota where he work for J.C. Penny's later which he sold Trojan Seed Corn out of Olivia, Minnesota. Catherine stayed with her brothers on the farm to keep house while Roy was on the road. In 1953, Roy started to work for Minnesota Protective Insurance Company as an insurance agent for over twenty six years.
  Roy liked to fish, hunt, & sports. He was proud of his nine children.
  Roy & Catherine celebrated their 40th Anniversary in 1989, shortly before Roy was diagnosed to have stomach cancer. Roy died of cancer on October 22, 1990 from adenocarinonia esphogus cancer.
