Note:   Christening: 17 SEP 1692 St.Peter And St.Kevin, Dublin, Ireland Note: The parish was St.Kevin, but St.Peter was united with it in 680 ( or 1680) and the union became know as "The Parish and Vicaraoe of St.Peter . S igned with his mark. Witnesses: Henry Westlay, John Laird, Margaret Elliot t. William Kennedy lived at the fork of the Youghiogheny and Monongehela rivers from some time before August 18, 1773 until his death. The land w as surveyed on a warrant applied for in the name of Mary Creigh, June 14 1 767 or 69. His will provided for half of his land to go to his grandson He nry Kennedy, a son of Hugh and the other half to granddaughter Sarah Sil l. When he died the land covered 100 acres (evidence: Henry sold his land comprising 50 acres). Originally there was about 300 acres. The 17 83 Transcript of Taxables in Rostraver Twp. Westmoreland Co. lists Rober t, William Sr., Hugh and William Jr. at 100 acres each (thus 400 acres) wi th inhabitants of 2, 2, 0, and 7 respectively. But Hugh apparently got non e. He was not living on the land for which he is taxed here, and the 18 58 history refers to William Sr. setting up William Jr. "up well to the ex clusion of my grandfather," perhaps referring to this.(Francis C. Rockefel ler synthesized this information; he surmises that William was living in C umberland Co. before 1773. William acquired the land from John Crei gh in 1773, following a mortgage arrangement (which carried his mark, n ot his signature). (George Sill was a witness to the deed). William was li ving on the land at the time. The land later became Lincoln Twp. in Allegheny Co. In 1796 it was kno wn as "Forks of the Yough" and had about 600 people living there. Accordi ng to History of Allegheny County (A.Warren & Co. 1889, p. 84), heads of f amilies in 1790 included "James Canada, John Canada, Martin Canada, Willi am Canada, Hugh Canada, David Finley, (other Finney). Mortgage: William Kennedy, farmer, of Westmoreland Co. to John Creigh of C arlisle, Cumberland Co. Bound for L45 15s PA currency conditioned for paym ent of L22 17s 6d due 22 Dec. 1774.
