Note: D. Hoppe 63 a retired farmer passed away at 6:00 p.m. Friday March 11, in a Veterans Hospital in Big Springs, Texas where he had been hospitalized for some time. He suffered a stroke about 5 years ago from which he never fully recovered. His funeral was held in the Calvery Baptist Church at Stamford on Sunday March 13th at 2:30 p.m. Officiating was Rev. J.B.Chick. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Cemetary under the direciton of King Funeral Home. He was born October13, 1896 in Taylor, Texas. When he was about five years of age in 1901 he came with his fathers family settling in the Osage community. Nine years later in 1910 he moved to the McGregor community where he spent most of his young manhood life engaged in farming with his father. He was called to he U.S.Army wherehe served part of 1918 and 1919. in December 1921 he maried Miss Sophie Hageman of Cisco, Texas. They lived in Gatesville, Texas and then moved to Sagerton in 1932. In 1958 he moved to Stamford as a retired farmer. Survivors include hiswife, three sons, Oscar Jr. of Stamford, Leonard of Wichita Falls and Albert of Abilene and three grandchildren. Note: Oscar D.
