Note: Willaim H. Cairns was born in Bishopton, Quebec Oct 25, 1902. He was born in a rural farm house with 100 acres (50 on each side of the road). He is the oldest child of a second marrage (Mary Morley). On one side of the road was the "farm house" and the other side the farm. His father only had a few cattle and mostly worked in the woods. Bill's father also worked in a saw mill .He He When Bill was approximately 8 to 10 years old he was pulled out of He went to a little one room school, one teacher class up to grade 6. school to work in the woods. He worked on the farm and in the woods for approximately 5 years. Each year they needed help in the Canadian wes for Harvest Excersion t and would load up people in box cars and transport them to the West. When Bill was about 14 he went out to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada to work on a government wheat farm. He spent a couple of years there doing several jobs to include teaming horses which were hitched together abreast vice in tandum. After a couple of years Bill came back either to Bishopton or to Northern New Hampshire. His half brother Almon had a dairy farm and fruit trees in South Paris, Maine. Also, his half sister Julia was now living in Jefferson (Riverton) N.H. By the time Bill was about 19 to 21 he had found work at the "Old Wambeck" Hotel as a porter.
