a. Note:   Came to Clifton in 1857 at age 7 and grew to manhood . Went to Bishopton to work on the Covered Bridge over the St. Francis River and met and married
 Almina Bishop there . James built a log house across the road from his
 fathers, in Clifton and their first daughter was born there. After that they
 moved to "Nickey Nockey", near Island Brook, and we believe Julia was born
 there. There is still a clearing in Nickey Nockey named "Cairns clearing".
