Notes
a. Note:   Jeremiah P atrick1 Life Events Birth: 1738 Virginia Christening: Death: 1822 Floyd/Magoffin, Kentucky Burial: 1 Moved from MA to Giles County V A about 1790. In 1810 he moved to Russell County, VA and from there to Magoffin County, KY. He served in the Revolutionary War, and was taken prisoner. He lived on the Middle Fork of Licking River. In 1822, he died and is buried near Reuben Arnett's home.
and charged with being an enemy to this country, and acting under the commission of the King of Great Britain. Witnesses were brought forth and he was found innocent, but bound to his good behavior for twelve months, and fined a sum of one thousand pounds and two securities in the sum of five hundred pounds each. Jeremiah Patrick, born in Maryland, moved frequently -- Giles Co., VA, in 1790, then to Russell Co., VA., in 1810 he moved to Magoffin County (then Floyd County) KY. He died in 1822 on Middle Fork of the Licking River in Salyersville, KY.
The first record I have found of JEREMIAH PATRICK, SR. being in KY is in the court records for the year 1816, in which he was exempted from the 1813 levy because he was improperly charged with it. Records from the Russell County, VA Deed Book show JEREMIAH, SR. and SARAH sold the last of their property 6 July 1813. Their son JEREMIAH PATRICK, JR. and his wife ANNE who owned the adjoining property also sold their land 7 Sept 1813. JEREMIAH PATRICK and his wife NANCY sold their land in Russell County, VA on 7 July 1811 and WILLIAM PATRICK and MOLLY had sold their land on 3 July 1811. It appears that there was an exodus of this family from Virginia to Kentucky.
JEREMIAH PATRICK was born about 1738 and his wife was SARAH (SALLY) BLAIR daughter of BRICE BLAIR. They moved to KY between 1813 and 1816. Several of their children and their families moved to KY about the same time. Although a few of the children remained in this area, most had moved west before 1840. The ones remaining in KY have left many descendants in Magoffin and surrounding counties. JEREMIAH PATRICK, SR. is said to be the son of HUGH PATRICK of Maryland. JEREMIAH was in Montgomery County VA during the Revolutionary War and it does not appear that he was a soldier. However the PRESTON papers, Draper MSS, 5 QQ 73-79 show that in August 1780, he offered to enlist until December 31, 1781. It is possible he may have done so and the records have not been located.
JEREMIAH PATRICK lived only a short time after moving to KY. He died 1819. He and SALLY BLAIR PATRICK had 14 children. Only sketch information is available on some of them.
b. Note:   near Reuben Arnett's on the Middle Fork of Licking River, KY
c. Note:   They were married in MD according to William Patrick II's manuscript.
