That had to be nearly correct, because the 1850 census listed so many children born after her. Yet, Elizabeth Fuqua in Holmes Co. kept showing her birth year at about 1846, ten years younger than what she should have been. Her consistency is what bothered me. However, when it hit me that both her children claimed her residencey with them in 1910 they each said her age was much older, I realized that even her children knew she was older than what she professed. When Eliabeth applied for a homestead, she reported then that it was about 1839, which was almost on the button! Her mother, Tabitha, never knew her own correct age, either. (Barbara C.
