1900 census Holmes Co., Florida, Newton pcnt., HH#307 Stephen Gavin, June 1828, 71, married 52 years, farmer, b. SC, father NC, mother SC Anna, wife, Aprl 1856, 44, married 52 years, mother of 16, just 8 living, b. Georgia This census is SO confusing! There is no way a 44 yr old woman could be married 52 years, yet the census clearly states that. Could she be yet another wife, the 3rd one, and the census taker recorded the 52 in error?
