Note:   N542 BIRTH: Interment record, Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio RESIDENCE: 1860, 1870 Franklin Co., OH census DEATH: Probated will, Franklin Co., OH, #7631; Obituary, Ohio State Journal,10/28/1884 Truman's dates and places taken from interment record. He died of paralysis. He was a part of the wholesale business, Carpenter Brothers. 1860 census from Franklin Co. shows him living single, possibly in a boarding house with other merchants and clerks. He was a merchant with $15000 and $2000. 1870 census finds him married to Mary, merchant with dry goods, $25000 and $10000. Julia Short, 52, was living there also. Domestic servant, Annie Helter, 22, of Prussia was also in the household. His will left all that he had to his wife, Mary. Upon her death what remained would pass to his brother, Stephen V. R.
