a. Note:   N1715 The Kelleys were charter members of the Providence Baptist Church, Clayhatchee, Dale Co., AL. Their names were found among the charter group of that church, May 26, 1849. They were found in 1850 and 1860 census for Coffee Co, Alabama, living in same area as Gavin and Garretts. He received patents for 200 acres of land in 1860, located south of Enterprise, AL, which he had settled on much earlier and had even sold by the time the government issued the patent.

E, pp. 679-80 1861, Aug. 27 Kelley, David witnessed a deed when Gillis and Ellafair Jackson sold to Benjamin Howell land in S9, T3, R22. Bk. F, p. 37 1863, Feb. 17 David J. Kelley was granted guardianship of John A.J. Gideon, a minor of fourteen years. The minor was in the court and requested that David Kelley would be his guardian. Request was granted.   They were found in 1870 census, Oaky Streak, Butler, AL, Twp.7, farmer. A letter written by Elizabeth in 1871 tells that they were now sharecropping whereas they had once owned 200 acres. What happened to David that they had to sell their land? His wife, Elizabeth was shown to be a widow in 1880 census, Santa Rosa Co., FL.
