Is this following letter also from him? A LETTER FROM TEXAS IN 1879--- Thinking that perhaps some of the people in Miller and Early counties would like to hear from this part of Texas, I have decided to write you a short letter. There have been a great many immigrants from Georgia to Texas within the last few years, Mostly from SW Georgia, especially Miller County and have settled in this part of Texas. A large portion of this county is thickly settled with Georgians---- He mentions there are more numerous streams, but the pinelands are the same as Miller and Early. He mentions men hauling timber to the Neaches River and rafting and running the timber down stream. He mentions the names of Sheffield, McDonald, Swearingen, more Sheffields, Hugh and Blant Means and others. This letter is on page 366 of Volume II of Collections of Early County-----and the letter is signed by James M.McDonald.......... ---from Early County, Ga. JoanHerndon
