Notes
a. Note:   N2357 Of son John W. Roberts, a report told that he came from Clarke County, Georgia in 1840. I believe that he was BORN in Clarke Co, rather than leaving from there. His birthyear as reported varied from 1810 to1818, the period that John Roberts, Sr. was in Clarke with his family.
The 1850 Pike Co. Alabama census found John W. and his young family living in the same area as his father. His age was 32 that year. Birthyear - 1818 1860 Pike Co. AL had him at 47 and being a farmer and laborer living in Briar Hill community. Birthyear - 1813 1870 Pike Co., AL had him at 55. Birthyear - 1815 1880 Pike Co., AL census showed him born in South Carolina.
Notes for JOHN W. ROBERTS from Angie Golden: Land Tract Record: Section 14, Township 11 N, Range 19 East.    This land would be approx. 2 miles southeast of present day Brair Hill and about 2 miles of Shady Grove in Northwest Pike Co, Alabama. John W. Roberts was a stage Driver from Troy to Montgomery, Alabama during the Civil War.   The Following is an article written in the "Some Old People" series in 1889 about J.W. Roberts.  John W. Roberts lives thirteen miles west of Troy and is seventy-two years old but has the appearance of a man not over sixty. He came from Clark County, Georgia in 1840 and settled in Russell county, this state, where he married Miss Nancy Fortune, who still journeys along life's pathway with him. She is sixty- five of age and attends all household duties. The old couple have seven living children and 47 grand-children.  To the old citizens of Troy Mr Roberts is well known, having spent much of his time here some years ago. He has always been a farmer and although crippled in one of his hands has managed to make a support for his family. For a number of years he has been a member of the Christian Church and among his neighbors is known as an upright man and conscientious Christian.
