Note: N752 As a young man, he settled in Dedham, Mass., where he, with his brother, George, engaged in the lumber, grain, flour and feed business, running in connection with it a mill. He is a quiet, retiring man, who, as one of his neighbors said, "was ever ready to give to the deserving poor, but did not wish to have it known." He is a staunch Baptist, keen business man, and held in high esteem by his fellow townsmen.
