Notes
a. Note:   --Source of information: Betty Stander (whome@@sprynet.com);
 Loretta was 22 years old at the time of marriage. She died on a Thursday.
  --Source of information: Henry GODSHALK (Bristol, Indiana [Stories told to me by my Grand Uncle Henry GODSHALK on 22 JUL 1997]);
 Mom [Loretta (NOEL) GODSHALK] got a check from England, from an inheritance. Her Dad (Lewis) used to tease her about the BIG check ... it was for $26. Because of this, Henry believes that there weren't too many generations between him and our English roots.
 Mom had a brother named Oscar. Uncle Oscar was married and his wife was pregnant with their child. His wife was ill and they needed to hire a hired woman to help take care of the house. While Uncle Oscar's wife gave birth, he got the hired woman "in the family way". Mom was so upset that she never spoke to her brother again.
 The kids would go out to milk the cows everyday and bring the milk back to Mom. She'd churn the milk into cream. Then take the cream to the grocery store and have it weighed. This was how she was able to buy groceries for the family.
 Mom had a pretty good education for that day, up through 8th grade. She knew more about the Bible than anyone, but wasn't one to preach. But, Mom would sure correct us when we went wrong. Mom helped my older brother's and sister's with their school lessons.
 She wasn't one to ask for help from anyone.
