Daniel V. Searles Sr.----Elkhart------Daneil V. Searles Sr., 81, of 837McDonald St., died at 6:43p.m. Thursday (Feb. 19, 1998)in the home of his son, Daniel V. Searles III of 1425 Dotson St., after an extended illness.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Billings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born on May 7, 1916, in Elkhart, he married Elda J. Ravenscroft on Oct. 6, 1934. She died March 28, 1991. He is survived by his companion, Esther Rinehart of Elkhart; a son, Daniel V. III of Elkhart; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Raikes of Frankfort. Two half brothers, James and Richard Haver; and a half sister, Mary J. LeCount, are deceased.
A sheet metal worker, Mr. Searles retired in 1978 from Henry Weis Manufacturing in Elkhart, where he worked for 23 years. He was a former member of Teamsters Local 364 and Teamsters Retirees 364 and a member of the Greencroft Harmonica Band in Goshen.
Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army or Elkhart Community Hospice Inc.
