Note: --Source of information: Jennie SPERLING (Lansdale, PA); They lived in Franconia for awhile and in 1771 they moved to New Galena Road, New Britain Township, Bucks County. Here they bought 51 acres from Andrew HALL and by 1779 had 95 acres. On the plantation he built a new saw mill on the North Branch of the Neshimany Creek, later it was known as Sellers Mill, there were two houses on the property. His will dated 27 April 1814, devised his son John the plantation and the children received 372 pounds each. John and Christine are buried at Doylestown Mennonite Church. --Source of information: Carl H. GOTTSHALL <gottshal@@ix.netcom.com><167 Rose Valley Rd. Pottstown, PA 19464>; Shows his death date as 5 Jul 1841. Carl talked with Joel ALDERFER ... Joel was researching the GODSHALK line and found a group of papers that disproved the information on the descendants of John Custer GOTTSCHALL & Barbara (Hannah ???) KINDIG (from the Godshalk GODSHALK side of the family). The descendants are actually from John Johnson GODSHALK & Barbara KINDIG (from the Herman GODSHALK's side). In my search I'd also found that Barbara's name could have been Hannah, who was married to John Custer GOTTSCHALL ... and this is how I am listing the information. They lived in New Britain Township, Buck County, Pennsylvania. --Source of information: Lil Miller <misslil@@erols.com ; http://www.erols.com/misslil/genlist/godshall/>; GODSHALK, John Johnson (11/8/1737-7/15/1814) married Christina HENDRICKS. They lived in Towamincin, Montgomery County, PA. They moved to Doylestown, Bucks County, PA sometime later. Both are buried in the Doylestown Mennonite Cemetery. Father of Catherine H., Mary H., Herman H., John H., Samuel H., William H., Rachel H., Jacob H. --Source of information: Donna Warner <drw13@@atl.mindspring.com>; John bought 35 acres from his father in 1764, sold it to John Boorse a year later; the deed of this sale identified John's father as Herman Godshalk (not Godshalk Godshalk as most early genealogists had thought). John and Christiana amnoved to Hilltown Township briefly, bought 51 acres, 54 perches in New Britain Township on Oct. 25, 1765 and another 51 acres in 1771. John was a weaver, and later operated a sawmill on his property. He was axed for 95 acres in 1779. On the 1884 tax list he was taxed for 102 acres, with two dwellings. He had a family of nine. His will was signed on April 27, 1814, and probated on Aug. 1 of the same year. His son John inherited the plantaion; all the children received 371 lbs, 5s, 3d.
