Notes
a. Note:   --Source of information: <Dickshoe@@aol.com>;
 Jacob Shoemaker, the second eldest son of the old progenitor, was born in Pfalts Germany, March 31st, 1708. He was twenty nine years of age when he, in company with his parents and the rest of the family came to America. After being in America for a year or so, he formed an acquaintance with Susanna Ziegler, to who he was maried in the year 1740. She was born in Basle, Switzerland Febreuary 19th, 1719 and died November 20th, 1779. They resided in Montgomery County, near Schiebach, where they had a family of eight children.
 NOTE:- this list agrees with those listed herein, except that it does NOT include the Jacob that I list has having died young. However, Kenyon-, does list a Jacob with the 1752 DOB (as opposed to the 1754 for the one I have listed as the one who lived to raise a family.) This 1752 Jacob is listed in the hand written Family Records, while Kenyon- also uses the 1754 date in his computerized records. Thus, perhaps there was only ONE Jacob, and the DOB is the open question.
 He arrived in the US September 21, 1731 at age 22 on the ship Britannia.
 In 1741, he purchased a tract of 141 acres in Salford Township, Philadelphia county, now lower Salford Township, Montgomery County.
 The Jacob Shoemaker Family was Mennonite and belonged to the Salford Mennonite Church. Wenger in is `Hisotry of the Franconia Mennonites' states that Jacob was chosen a Mennonite Preacher in 1746. He also steates that Jacob came to America from the Palatinate with his father. This is without doubt an errors, as only one Jacob Shoemaker appears on the entry lists, age 22.
 Data relative to Jacob Shoemaker and his descendants is given in the Jacob Oberholtzer Genealogy, the Funk Family History, and the two Moyer Family Histories. Care must be taken, however, to weed out the error. It is stated that Jacob arrived in 1737 and married Susanna Schuler, and he is also confused with Jacob Shoemaker, Jr of Germantown (D 1e) and with Jacob Shoemaker, son of George of Cheltenham (D 3; Chelt. 12). It is stated also that he was married twice, which was likewise an error. Fortunately, the Montgomery County Historical Society at Norristown, Pennsylvania has preserved the flyleaf from his Family Bible, which states the name of the ship he arrived on, his wife's correct name, and the birthdates of his children.
 Bean in his History of Montgomery County, mentions among the taxables of Lower Salford Township in 1776:- (1) Jacob Shoemaker, a cripple, 141 acres, 2 horses, 1 cow; (2) Jacob Shoemaker, Jr., 2 cows.
 Jacob Shoemaker's will, dated April 17, 1777, and probated July 24, 1793, is on file at the Montgomery County Wills Office. In his estate papers, he is mentioned as a resident of both Lower Salford and Franconia Townships.
 There was a Jacob Shoemaker, taxpayer, in Coventry Township, Chester County, 1734. This may have been a member of one of the three early Philadelphia families. Sauer's Newspaper, December 16, 1749, mentions Jacob Shoemaker living at Skippack, probably the above immigrant.
